Ketamine Infusion Therapy for Chronic Neuropathic Pain

Restoring Comfort. Reclaiming Quality of Life.

Chronic pain can be all-consuming — a constant presence that limits mobility, disrupts sleep, and erodes emotional well-being. For many people living with neuropathic pain, traditional pain medications and interventions bring little relief or come with side effects that make daily life even harder.

At Crestline Health and Wellness, we specialize in helping patients whose pain has persisted despite standard treatments. Our ketamine infusion therapy offers a groundbreaking approach to pain management, working on a neurological level to reduce pain sensitivity and help patients regain control over their lives.

A Science-Backed Approach to Pain Relief

Unlike opioids or nerve pain medications, ketamine doesn’t just mask pain — it works by targeting the brain and spinal cord pathways involved in pain signaling.

Research from the National Institutes of Health, Yale University, and the Veterans Administration has demonstrated that low-dose ketamine infusions can help “reset” how the nervous system processes pain. This makes it especially effective for neuropathic and centralized pain conditions, including:

  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Neuropathy (diabetic, post-surgical, or idiopathic)
  • Chronic migraines
  • Postherpetic neuralgia (shingles pain)
  • Phantom limb pain

Many patients experience meaningful relief after just a few treatments, with reduced intensity and frequency of pain flares — and, in many cases, an improved ability to engage in physical activity, sleep, and daily life.

What to Expect During Treatment

Each infusion is designed to be a calm, controlled, and restorative experience.

  • Duration: Each session lasts approximately 3 hours, including infusion and recovery time. Longer form infusions are available for patients with more severe symptoms.
  • Dosage: The ketamine is administered intravenously by an infusion pump under continuous physician supervision. Dosing is evidenced-based and patient-centered. Doses are calculated individually based on weight and titrated to address your unique symptoms.
  • Experience: Ketamine creates a dreamlike sensation of disconnecting the body and mind without reducing consciousness. Patients report a deep state of relaxation, which may be described as “floating.” Some experience empathy for oneself and others, as well as clarity to see beyond traumatic events or destructive thought patterns. Any mild side effects — such as light and sound sensitivity — fade within minutes after treatment.
  • Safety: Your comfort and safety are our top priorities. Every infusion is performed by Dr. Amy in accordance with the Alabama Medical Board. Continuous monitoring and specialized equipment ensure each session is safe and effective. Our entire clinical team is ACLS certified.

Your Personalized Care Plan

Relief from chronic pain is not a one-time event — it’s a process. Our compassionate team works with each patient to create a personalized treatment plan designed for lasting change.

  1. Initial Series: Most patients begin with two 2-hour infusions back to back on consecutive days. Each session builds on the last to strengthen and prolong symptom relief.
  2. Maintenance Treatments: The maintenance dosing schedule looks different for each patient, as it is tailored to meet your individual needs. The frequency of maintenance dosing is determined collaboratively between you, Dr. Amy, your pain specialist, and/or neurologist. Typically, patients return for one 2-hour maintenance session when their symptoms flare in order to sustain relief.
  3. Collaborative Support: We partner closely with each patient, their pain specialists, and/or their neurologist to ensure the best possible outcomes, continually adjusting as needed.
